Universal Serial Bus

Generally speaking, USB is a very useful serial bus, as it allows devices to be connected to the computer while it is running. The data transfer rates are also very fast, especially USB 2. Older serial buses required you to restart your computer, connect the device and power it up again. I am pretty sure that the plug-and-play capabilities of USB made it so popular. These days most devices such as cameras, keyboards, mouses, scanners, camcoders, printers and USB drives require you to connect them to the USB port. Most computers have at least 2 USB ports, but many newer ones have 6 or even more, because there are thousands of devices which you may connect and USB has truly become a universal port.
