I would suggest not buying more than 2 or 4GB, as currently there is really no need for more. However, if you have Windows Vista, 4GB of RAM may be beneficial, especially if you run many applications. Ultimately, I believe that shopping for RAM does not have to be hard, especially if you remember to check your motherboard manual and know what type of RAM to buy.
