Privacy in Cyber-Security Plan
May 30, 2009 – 9:41 amSecuring federal computer networks from hackers and foreign adversaries is an important task in the USA. On the other hand, privacy is a basic right of people and many believe that the cyber-security plan might be a threat to the privacy. Implementing the plan would basically mean that any suspicious traffic going across the network would be monitored. Since it would be hard to achieve that taking into account everyday traffic, the plan would also drastically reduce the number of connections between federal agency networks and the Internet. With the current number of connections it is easy for hackers to mask themselves from detection. Personally speaking, I believe that the privacy of the user would not really be violated in this program, as this would only affect Internet users connecting to government websites.
