MySpace for US Hispanics

June 1, 2009 – 5:05 pm

As the number of US Latino Internet users is growing rapidly, MySpace decided to launch its portal dedicated to this group of people. New Spanish version of MySpace will not simply be a rip-off of the English version, and will not be simply its translation. Eight new bilingual communities are going to be focused on Latino celebrities like actors, singers, and soccer players. Online Latinos are one of the fastest growing group of Internet users in the United States. According to various Internet analysts, about three quarters of US Latinos are online which constitutes a great increase. In 2002, only half of them were visiting the Web. No plans were announced to create a MySpace site for US blacks yet, but I am almost sure that eventually a site with original content for this group will appear at some point of time.
