Installation of Windows XP

While most internet surfers do not have problem using Windows XP in their everyday work, not everyone knows how to install it. It isn’t that hard, and I wrote a short guide which should help you in doing so:

  • Make sure the CD drive is bootable in BIOS. To get into BIOS you usually have to press “Del” or “F8” after your computer powers up, but it depends on your motherboard.
  • If you do it correctly you will see the screen reading “Windows is preparing for installation”. Wait for everything to load.
  • You will be asked if you want to install Windows. Press enter and accept the EULA.
  • Choose the NTFS (New Technology File System) if you plan on installing Windows XP.
  • Press “F” to begin the formatting and installation.
  • After your computer reboots you may need to wait half an hour for Windows to install during which you will be asked for details like language and time zone.
  • An important thing to keep in mind is to backup any important data you may have on disk C, since this is the disk where Windows is usually installed to. That’s all! Let me know if you have any questions.
