Illegally Copying DVDs?

Copying of most prerecorded DVDs is not allowed, yet it is easy to do so. There are many programs that make this task very easy. That is why I am wondering how many people actually do it. According to different surveys, it appears that a large group of population is copying those videos, even though it is illegal. I mentioned before that it is quite easy to copy them, and I believe that is why so many computer users are doing it. Besides the fact that it can be done so easily, I also believe that it is being done because there are almost no penalties for doing so. It is true that officially there are large penalties, but in reality hardly anyone is getting sued, which is why people are not afraid. I heard an opinion of a blogger who said that it would be a good idea to penalize every illegal copy with a $10,000,000 fine. What do you think about it? It is probably unrealistic, however, it is a good thing that people are trying to come up with various solutions to the problem. Do you think that you would be able to come up with a solution?
