CRT, LCD, What Next?

Having a high quality monitor is essential for work efficiency. It is also essential if a person wants to watch many movies or play games. CRT monitors have been popular for many years, but they are losing popularity due to the newer generation of monitors known as LCD. If your monitor is relatively flat, it means that you are sitting in front of a LCD monitor right now. LCD monitors are getting thinner and brighter each year, but for how long will this technology be popular? Since CRT became at some point obsolete, it is safe to assume that the same will happen to the LCD technology. Some time ago, I even read about a new type of more efficient monitors developed at Microsoft that would be able to transmit a lot more brightness to the surface of the screen. That is because it seems that LCD monitors only transmit around 10% of light to the actual screen. Will those type of monitors be the future? Time will tell, but I am sure that sooner or later LCD monitors will be replaced with even more efficient technology. After all, that is what progress is all about. Apart from monitors using a different type of technology, I also think that monitors are going to have a very large screen in the future. You will probably be able to have any size of screen you wish, which should greatly enhance the overall experience of watching movies or playing games.
