Competition in the Console Market
August 12, 2009 – 4:49 pmNintendo Wii is one of the most popular gaming consoles, which has proven that there is still room for innovation in computer games. Last year there has been news of Nintendo launching Wii Channel which is used to rate WiiWare games and downloadable demos. Nintendo launched Wii Channel to make their console even more appealing to gamers, and it seems like it was a good strategy. One of the other features that Wii Channel has is the possibility to browse through games that are going to be released, and sorting the games by genre and publisher. It is really handy to have all of the games listed in one place, and I am sure that majority of gamers appreciate this new feature. Anyway, I believe that this proves that there is some steep competition in the console market, and companies like Nintendo, Microsoft, and Sony are trying to do everything to attract customers to them. Most gamers have only one console, and when they buy a particular one, they usually stick with it for many years. That is why having a long list of features like, for example, a Wii Channel, is something not only created to please customers, but also something which is necessary to survive in today’s market.
