Lately, I heard an opinion that it is a good idea when the blog name is the same as the domain name. The reason for this is mainly search engine optimization. If your blog name is the same as domain name there is very little confusion when linking to you. People are simply going to use your blog name as the anchor text. On the other hand, if your domain name and blog name will differ, there would be some people linking to you with your websites URL anchor text. While that would not be a disaster it would not benefit SEO. There is also another reason – it is easy to remember a domain name that is identical to the blogs name. It is as simple as that. If visitors are going to remember your blog name, they will not need to bookmark your site in order to visit it again in the future. You need to take into consideration, that there is quite a small chance that the first time someone visits your site he will want to bookmark it. Of course, there are many other facts to take into consideration, but I believe that the advice I have given can be quite useful in many circumstances.
