Benefits of Computer Games

September 25, 2009 – 9:29 am

When it comes to computer games, there are many activists protesting against them. Most of such people never played computer games and they may think that games may reduce your IQ. First of all, I just want to say that there is no activity that reduces IQ, but rather lack of activities that stimulate your brain may make you less sharp. I believe that most games are more intellectually involving than activities like, for example, watching movies. That is because in games you play the active role, and you need to stay on your toes and be focused in order to perform well. Additionally, there are many strategy games, which require a lot of planning and intelligence in order to win the game.
Anyway, to a lot of people it may seem that politics is like a game. This is especially true in election years, but not only. Since I started talking about the similarity of politics to games, I think it would be a good time to present you with the Political Machine, which is a political computer strategy game. The elections might be over, but it still can be interesting to choose your candidates design and define their political views. These views include among other things, tax cuts, war in Iraq, prayer in school, etc. While the game seems to be humorous and playing it is relaxing, it is based on real issues and the Political Machine will not let you forget that. I recommend this game to those who are into computer games and are also interested in politics.
